Welcome to St. Martin's
St. Martin Academy appreciates your interest in the possibility of being a part of our community of faith in learning.

Our school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, ethnic, cultural, or economic background in the administration of its educational policies. We believe in promoting the importance of diversity within the school community.

To be considered for registration we must receive current immunization records and completed forms along with the deposit fee.

St. Martin’s is Christ-centered so our instruction occurs in an environment founded on Christian ideals following the teachings of Jesus Christ and in the traditions of the Episcopal Church, while respecting and honoring all faiths. Academics are built with basic skills through traditional and innovative instruction. Most Christian schools choose their curriculum based upon whether or not it has a “Christian” publisher. But our criteria is different; we do not ask, “Who is the publisher?” but rather “What curriculum best develops a child’s ability to interact, listen, speak, read, and write?” We are offering a progressive teaching method mixed with a traditional core curriculum to cover the subjects of science, math, language arts, and social studies. Our reading program teaches children the excitement of reading through Saxon Phonics along with an individualized reading program.

A love of schooling comes from an honorable base of learning. Through our program our teachers and staff of volunteers will offer the loving Christian environment that helps to nurture the intellectual mind. We feel that this will have each student well on their way toward academic excellence and a future of scholastic success.

Emergency Drills

Emergency drills are held periodically to acquaint your child with evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency and fire drills are practiced monthly.

Items From Home

All items must be labeled with the child’s first and last name.
Each child should bring a nutritious lunch.
The children may also bring a water bottle or juice box that can be taken outdoors.

Conduct and Discipline

The students attending Saint Martin’s are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and polite manner and to treat their peers and authority figures with respect. The use of physical punishment is not permitted. We use positive reinforcement and diverse play for our primary methods of discipline, however if necessary a child may have a “cooling off” period if the behavior continues. Parents may be asked to discuss a persistent behavioral problem with the teacher or head of school. If cooperation is not forthcoming the school reserves the right to dismiss the child.

Monthly Calendars and Newsletters

You will receive from the teacher either a weekly or monthly calendar, which will show the learning units in different subjects. You will also be given a monthly newsletter that keeps you informed of any class needs, changes in procedures or policies and upcoming events. These can also be found on the bulletin board by the sign in sheets.

Folders

When your child begins school we will provide them with a folder. Please have your child bring it to school every day and check it daily for any information the teacher or school might be sending home to you.

Fees and Tuition

Registration and deposits are necessary to assure your child a place in the program. Tuition is due the first week of every month. Tuition received after the tenth of the month will include a ten-dollar late charge. Due to fixed costs, averaged over the calendar year, there is no reduction in tuition for any child’s absence due to sickness, vacations or holidays.

Visits and Volunteers

Parents are encouraged to visit and/or assist as volunteers in the classroom, on party days or at home after checking with the teacher.
